VNU Vietnam Japan University (VJU) took a significant step toward global recognition by hosting an on-site evaluation for the International Joint Accreditation Project on March 6–7, 2025. The evaluation, conducted by the Japan University Accreditation Association (JUAA), brought together an esteemed panel of five international reviewers from Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam, along with eleven administrative staff and observers. This milestone event reflects VJU’s commitment to academic excellence and international standards.
Advancing Global Education Standards
Universities that achieve international joint accreditation gain not only formal recognition from global accreditation bodies but also a strategic advantage in enhancing international collaboration and mobility. A prime example of such institutions is Akita International University (AIU), a distinguished liberal arts college in Japan, widely acclaimed for its strong international focus.
A First for Vietnam
This on-site evaluation marks the first-ever implementation of the International Joint Accreditation Project in Vietnam, setting a precedent for other institutions in the country. While the final assessment results are yet to be announced, the Chair of the Evaluation Committee lauded VJU’s remarkable growth, calling it “The Miracle of Hanoi.” This praise underscores the university’s rapid development and its increasing influence on higher education in the region.
Official Recognition of JUAA in Vietnam
Adding to this historic moment, on March 11, 2025, the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training officially recognized JUAA’s operations in Vietnam through Decision No. 639/QD-BGDDT. This landmark decision grants JUAA the authority to conduct higher education accreditation activities in Vietnam, in line with national regulations. The approval is valid for five years, making JUAA the first Japanese accreditation body officially recognized in Vietnam.

Through these groundbreaking initiatives, VNU Vietnam Japan University is playing a key role in the internationalization of higher education, not only in Vietnam but also in Japan. By bridging academic standards across borders, VJU is fostering a new era of global education collaboration, reinforcing its position as a leader in higher education excellence.
