[ABOUT JAIF SCHOLARSHIP AT VJU]

ASEAN and Japan enjoy long years of solid and beneficial relations as “partners thinking together, acting together, and sharing a future vision”. Being an enduring strategic partner of ASEAN, Japan has been a major development partner and contributor for more than four decades to the political, economic and social development of ASEAN.

JAIF was officially established in March 2006, based on the pledge from then Japanese Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Junichiro Koizumi at the Ninth ASEAN-Japan Summit held in December 2005 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Since its first financial contribution, several additional funding supports have been pledged to the original JAIF, and as of June 2017, the total contribution amounts to more than USD 650 million.

JAIF has contributed not only to advancing ASEAN integration but also to strengthening ASEAN-Japan relations by implementing various projects in the areas of disaster management, counter terrorism, maritime cooperation, economic integration, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises development, youth exchanges, Japanese language training and others.

In Vietnam, JAIF has sponsored to only Vietnam Japan University since 2019 until now. The scholarship is provided to not only Vietnamese students but also students from Cambodia, Lao and Myanmar who have demand to study in the unique environment and programs at VJU.

In 2024, there are 23 JAIF scholarships award to 18 Vietnamese students and 5 CLM students. The detail of this scholarship as below
