VJU DELEGATES VISITE E-JUST

From December 14 to 20, 2024, a delegation from the Vietnam Japan University (VJU) visited the Egypt Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST).

E-JUST: A Success Story in Higher Education

Founded in 2009, E-JUST emerged as a symbol of collaboration between the Egyptian and Japanese governments, aimed at advancing education and research. Similar to VJU, E-JUST has received substantial support from the Japanese government through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Over the past 15 years, E-JUST has achieved outstanding milestones:

• Ranked 1st in Egypt, particularly excelling in research capacity.
• Secured a position in the 501–600th band globally in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025.

These achievements reflect E-JUST’s success in evolving into a model institution of excellence for the African and Middle Eastern regions, making it a valuable reference for developing universities like VJU.

A Meaningful Experience for VJU

The visit to E-JUST provided the VJU delegation with opportunities to:

• Explore E-JUST’s transition from reliance on external support to achieving institutional ownership and independence.
• Gain insights into overcoming similar challenges faced by young universities in their growth phases.
• Engage in knowledge exchange and explore future collaboration opportunities.

As VJU embarks on its next development phase—focused on strengthening governance, expanding academic networks, and building a state-of-the-art campus in Hoa Lac—E-JUST’s journey serves as both an inspiration and a practical roadmap.
