Almost of Sino-Vietnamese vocabulary are borrowed from Chinese language. Unlike Japan, Kanji is no longer used in Vietnam nowadays. However, Wasei-kango (Japanese – made Chinese words) such as "cách mạng"(revolution), "tư bản"(capital), and "thời gian"(time) are found in modern Vietnamese language. Wasei-kango are the words of Chinese morphemes in Japanese language written by Kanji but created by Japanese in Japan. In this presentation, I would like to mention two points regarding the wasei-kango borrowed in Vietnamese language: (1) when they were borrowed, and (2) by what routes they flowed into Vietnamese language.
